Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB)

Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) is a program office in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU). CVE's primary role is to provide verification to VOSBs and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) seeking to do business with the federal government.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)

DBEs are for-profit small business concerns where socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least a 51% interest and also control management and daily business operations.

An SDB is a small business that is at least 51 percent owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged. SDB status makes a company eligible for bidding and contracting benefit programs involved with federal procurement.

Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)

A minority-owned business is a for-profit enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the United States or its trust territories, which is owned, operated and controlled by minority group members. "Minority group members" are United States citizens who are Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American.

Small Business Enterprise (SBE)

SBE is a company level diversity certification. SBE certifications are usually issued by the local or state government. Eligibility for certification as a Small Business Enterprise varies depending on the issuer; requirements may relate to number of employees, length of time the company has been in business and the net worth of the company's owner.

Local Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (LDBE)

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) LDBE Program provides opportunities to local small business firms without regard to race or sex.

eVA Vendor

eVA is the state of Virginia's web-based purchasing system, which allows businesses a one-stop connection to business opportunities and related purchasing information for the Commonwealth state and local governments. Businesses which sell to the Virginia government are called “vendors.”

eMaryland Marketplace Vendor

The state of Maryland conducts the majority of its procurements through eMaryland Marketplace, the online procurement system that is a business tool to provide vendors with easy access to the State's procurement information.

Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned (SWaM) Business

The SWaM business certification program is a state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The purpose is to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM businesses participating in state-funded projects.

Small Business & Local Preference Program

This program targets and gives preference to qualified small businesses in the procurement of goods and services when the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's (WMATA) or better known as "Metro", awards contracts for non-federally funded purchases of $150,000 or less (simplified acquisition process).
